Chad Michael Sonnon of Ashland, Schuylkill County was arrested on Nov. 2 in connection with the assault of the 20-year-old woman the previous day in Millersburg, Dauphin County, court records show.

The woman told the police that Sonnon was her best friend's boyfriend, according to court documents obtained by Daily Voice. Sonnon and the woman had been sitting on a futon at a home in the 500 block of Shiffers Mill Road when he made sexual advances that she refused around 9 p.m. on Nov. 1, as detailed in the criminal complaint. When he forced a kiss, she pushed him and attempted to flee, according to the affidavit of probable cause. That's when he put his hands in her pants and forced her back onto the futon, the woman told police. After multiple failed attempts to enter the woman, he succeeded and finished in "about 30 seconds," as stated in court records.

At that point, he rolled off of her and she was able to fake a texted family emergency and leave, the affidavit states. At 2 a.m. the following morning, she had a rape kit done at UMPC, and the nurse turned the findings over to PSP.

The nurse was interviewed by State Troopers and "the findings show not only the presence of semen but evidence of a forcible rape," Trooper Thomas Clark wrote in the affidavit.

Sonnon has been charged with the following according to the state police and his court docket:

  • Felony rape by forcible compulsion.
  • Felony sexual assault.
  • Felony aggravated indecent assault by forcible compulsion.
  • Misdemeanor indecent assault by forcible compulsion.
  • Misdemeanor simple assault.

His preliminary arraignment was held in Dauphin County night court before Magisterial District Judge Joseph S. Lindsey, who set his bail at $250,000. After failing to post bail, he was remanded to the Dauphin County Prison, court records show.

His preliminary hearing has been set before Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Jo Margerum at 10 a.m. on Nov. 13.
